- Height 5'8",

- Was born in 1963 on
Groundhog Day (February 2) in Buffalo, NY
- Is an only child
- Is left-handed
- Parents moved to
Tempe, AZ in the middle of his sixth grade year
- Nearly drowned in the
Arizona Salt River in 1975
- A phobia of doctors
kept him from pursuing organized sports in High School so
he got involved in powerlifting as an alternative
- Held High School and
Arizona Teenage Records in powerlifting
- In middle-age doubled
over 625 pounds in the squat
- Could run a 4.7 in
the 40 yard dash on grass in tennis shoes
- Was known for his
leaping ability and could dunk softballs in a legal
height basketball hoop
- Became a Christian in
1981 (following his father's conversion a year or two
earlier) and led his mother to Christ two years later
- Never had any
interest in academics in High School and had no plans to
attend college
- Later decided to go
to college and graduated from Arizona Christian
University in Phoenix with a B.S.
- Met his wife, Lois,
in 1984 and they married in 1989
- Their first date was
a Phoenix Suns basketball game
- Once had the back of
a pickup truck fall on him while working underneath it
- Has suffered from
panic attacks and depression since early childhood
